Dream Big

Hello dolls! I've missed you.

Click Model Management: Courtney Cameron
Fashion Stylist: Asheton Rose -The Fashion Barista
Photographer: Paul Lane
For the past few weeks, I have been contemplating on what the next post should be about. It took a while for me to rack my brain on what I wanted to write. In all honesty, I had some MAJ writers block but then it dawned on me. Why not write a post dedicated to all of my dreamers and fashion loving friends. I am sure many of you have big dreams and aspirations just like me. So, FB is going to take a bit of a different approach. In this post, I will not be writing about my favorite fashion trends, my fashion inspiration, or how to style an outfit from day to night. Don't get me wrong. Those are some of my favorite things to write about and share. I figured it is time to get a little more deep with my readers. I am merely taking the time to share my dreams with you in hopes of inspiring each and everyone of you to fulfill those dreams and do something worth changing the world! No matter what your interests may be. We all have dreams. Take this as a daily dose of motivation for the day, the week, or the future. Use this to your disposal. This post is dedicated to my beautiful model best friend, Courtney Cameron. The one who inspires me to never give up and go after my dreams. I have learned so much from you and how you live out your dream on a daily basis. Thank you for being the greatest friend and support system. I love you so much and I am so proud of you.

Lean in my loves, it's story time....

From the time I was old enough to walk and speak full sentences. I made it clear to my sweet momma that I picked out my own clothes. Yeah I know, talk about a total DIVA.  My love for fashion came at a very young age. I was obsessed with putting different prints together. I would try to get as creative as I possibly could. Including taking a pair of scissors to some of my favorite dresses. Which my mom was not so happy about HA! There was no holding me back when it came to fashion and creativity. I was different from most kids. I did not want to look like everyone else. At a young age, I made it my mission to be different and use fashion as a way to express who I was and am now.  Remember dolls, fashion is all about individuality. Use it to express yourself. BE CREATIVE and BE YOU!

My dreams of wanting to become a fashion designer/stylist began in middle school. I became really serious about it when I started my freshman year of college. I knew that I wanted to make a career out of what I love doing most. Let me just tell you... I am extremely passionate about fashion and I will not stop until I have achieved my dreams! I plan to leave for design school in the Fall to pursue my dreams. I give all the thanks to the Lord for giving me this passion and the ability to never give up on my dream until I have tried an infinite amount of times. The best is yet to come.......

Now that I have shared my story with you all, I want y'all to know the importance of your dreams and talents. I beg you, please don't let your dreams stay dreams. One of my favorite quotes says, "Growth is painful, change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don't belong." I wholeheartedly believe in that quote. Don't stay somewhere because it is in the norm to do so. Our world teaches us so much about following the norms of society. Especially to have a job that makes a ton of money and as long as you are making a lot of money it is okay to be miserable! Let that truth sink in for a minute...I don't know about you but that sounds like it SUCKS. I am not saying you should all follow the starving artist path, absolutely not! I want each and everyone of you that have dreams and passions to be successful. But I want you to be successful at doing what you love! Those passions and talents will be the true key to your success. I have been told in my journey to never give up! Because great things take time. If you are passionate enough about something then you are willing to wait on the ultimate result of your hard work. My aunt made a painting for me that says, "She turned her cant's into cans and her dreams into plans." This applies to my fellas out there to. Don't let the word CAN'T become a part of your vocabulary. There is no such thing. Go after those dreams and never look back. I want you all to remember this quote, "PAY ATTENTION to your dreams for they are YOUR letters from God." Your talents are no mistake so don't let them sit and go to waste.

I can not tell you all how much I enjoy sharing my story and journey with you guys. I look forward to writing to all of you more. Since I have started this blog, I feel a deep connection to each and everyone of my readers. I can not explain it but I feel very blessed to have people like you who take the time to read my posts. My dolls, you are my inspiration, my story, and apart of my journey. Until next time... I have so much love for all of you.

Who Is Your Fashion Icon?

Good morning dolls! I am so sorry FB hasn't posted in a while. I have had several photo-shoots I had to style over the past few weeks! I have been extremely busy. But all for the good of the fashion world! Anyway, I am back and ready to speak some more fashion truth into your lives!

So here is the big question, Who is your fashion icon?

Okay so one of my favorite times of the year has emerged.. (insert drum roll).....ahh yes New York FASHION Week! Sadly FB did not get to attend this year but I did watch the live stream from all social media devices. It's okay judge me. Speaking for all of my fashion addicts out there, you understand that you do whatever it takes to get your daily fashion fix. I must say the fashions were completely out of this world! I wish I could take the time to write about all of my favorites but FB is on the run to another shoot. So this leads to my question....

Who is your fashion icon? Well I know who mine is! Without question my Fashion icon and inspiration is renowned fashion stylist, mother, and designer Rachel Zoe! I not only admire her dedication as a business women but the way she continues to make time for her GORG family. She makes it look so effortless. If you ask me, she is pretty much super woman of the fashion world! Zoe's Spring/Summer 2014 collection had my heart racing! I had a total Zoe fashion freak-out! I could not wait to share some of my favorite designs from her NYFW show. I love the way she combines a vintage 60's look with a rocker/chic edge to create a totally modern look. I am in awe of her talent and the way she creates the most beautiful works of art in the studio and on the runway. Oh and we also share the same love for hats! The perfect accessory. As Rachel would say, "This is so Maj." What can I say? I'm ZOE a fan!

Well Rach what can I say? You've done it again. Thank you for sharing your creativity and love for fashion. It inspires me to never stop pursuing my dreams. You are totally fabulous!

Dolls, I hope this has you thinking about who your fashion icon is! I would love to hear who inspires you. Who knows I may write about one of your favorites in the next post. Have a fashion filled day my lovelies. We'll chat soon. Much love.

Leather, lace, fur ohhh grrr.

Trends on trends

Hello dolls! I hope everyone's week has been great so far. I have been thinking for the past few weeks on what I would like to write about. I know that many of you look to trends to guide your everyday wardrobe. So I figured I would talk about some of my favorite trends that are taking the fashion world by storm. For those of you who are completely lost when it comes to fashion trends, I want to give you an idea of how you can take these trends and apply them to your everyday wardrobe. After reading this you will feel confident in knowing how you can complement your style with these different trends. So grab yourself a cup of coffee and snuggle up with your favorite blanket because you are about to go through trend bootcamp. Leather, lace, fur, ohh grrr...

I would love to give a big shout out to my model for today, Angela Culpepper. She is an active contestant for the Miss America organization. I styled her in  about twenty different looks and she was such a trooper. She made a beautiful model and I had an absolute blast working with her. We intended to shoot outside today but the Polar Vortex got the best of us! So we had to make due within the confines of my apartment/studio. My photography may not be the snazziest but I can tell you to let the outfits speak for themselves....

Leather & Lace

FB is totally obsessed with the leather & lace combo. Leather creates an edgy look but the lace adds a touch of romance to your outfit. Leather and lace work together to create a totally modern look. Combine dainty tops, sleek dresses, and bold accessories to create a sexy edge-romantic contrast.

2014 Golden Globes Best and Worst Dressed

Good Morning dolls! I'm back and ready to blog my little fashionista heart out.  One of my favorite times of the year is quickly approaching.... (drum roll)....wait for it.... AWARD SEASON!!! It is the time for A list celebs to prove that they possess more than an acting chop. Award season gives these celebs a chance to prove their roll in the fashion world as well as a lasting impression. Whether that may be good or bad. It will go down in fashion history marked as The Best of The Best or  The Worst of The Worst.

The Golden Globes kicked off the award season with a bang last night. You all know your dear FB was taking serious notes during the red carpet hour. So may I present to you FB's nominees for Best and Worst Dressed.

Best Dressed

Oh my goodness. Can we give a round of applause to Lupita Nyong, not only for her outstanding role in 12 Years A Slave but also for her gown choice. Nyong was the fashion talk of the night and for good reason. She killed it wearing a red cap-clad Ralph Lauren dress. You go girl! Stunning.

Photo: Jordan Strauss./ Published: 01/13/2014 3:10:50

Taylor Swift's best year may have been 2013. But she started off 2014 with a bang! T-swift stirred up some TROUBLE on the RED carpet. Turning heads in her stunning two-tone Caroline Herrera gown. She oozed of simplicity and elegance. Snaps for Tay Tay.

Emma Roberts "We're the Millers" star proved to recreate Old Hollywood Glam in a beautiful off-the-shoulder Lanvin dress. FB loves old Hollywood. So of course this was one of my favorite looks of the night! Beautiful, just beautiful!
Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images./ Published: 01/13/2014 3:10:50

Ohhh Sandra "B!" I don't care what the critics are saying. She looked beautiful. It's Sandra Bullock people. She could look marvelous wearing a burlap sack. No doubt about it,  The "Gravity" star stunned in a Prabal Gurung pink, black, and blue gown.
Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images./ Published: 01/13/2014 3:10:50

Always one of my favorites, Zooey Deschanel looked gorgeous in her dainty Oscar de la Renta ensemble. Bravo Zooey!
Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage./ Published: 01/13/2014 3:10:50

Jenna Dewan-Tatum, all I can say is "Hot mama!" She was a knockout in a black and white Roberto Cavalli fishtail mermaid-style gown. Teamed with Brian Atwood shoes and an Edie Parker clutch bag. A point goes out to team Tatum.
Photo: Steve Granitz/WireImage./ Published: 01/13/2014 3:10:50

Kate Mara "House of Cards" star was dazzling in a J Mendel silver dress. She looked beautiful from head to toe.

And we have a WINNER! This lady can do no wrong. She has done it again, wearing a seksi silver Zuhair Murad gown, Kate Beckinsale owned the Red Carpet!

Now for the moment you have all been waiting for...

WORST DRESSED

Aubrey Plaza had it all wrong. I mean who doesn't love the color purple? This is just to many shades of purple. This looks like the bridesmaids dress that you stuff away in your closet and NEVER wear again. At least she has a great sense of humor. Sorry chica but this is so Not FB approved.

Heidi... Why, why, why? We all love Heidi Klum but this is one of the worst looks of the night. May I point out that she is wearing a BOLO CHOKER. Yes, a choker. We said goodbye to chokers at the start of the Millennium and never looked back. "You're out. Auf Wiedersehen."

Can someone please explain to me what Bernice Bejo was thinking? I don't even know what this is. This gown does nothing to complement her body. This is a fashion disaster.

No doubt about it. Paula Patton is one stunning lady. But she could have done way better than this. This dress looks like a giant bed sheet. I am not quite sure what she was trying to accomplish. Just, No! I am looking forward to the Oscars hoping she can redeem herself with a stunning gown.

This breaks my heart to put Emma Watson on the worst dressed list. Emma is one of my fashion favorites. But she definitely was not one of my favorites last night. She wore a very complicated Dior ensemble that consisted of trousers underneath her gown. Sounds like Emma got a little confused.... Waiting for Emma to WOW us again. I know she can do it.

Zoe Saldana took home the worst dressed award. Saldana is beautiful and this dress distracts us from her beauty. Way to much going on here. Looks like she is going to a 90's prom. Yikes... the 90's!

What in the world!? Hayden Panettiere got it all wrong. First of all, someone should have told her to stay away from the hairspray. That is too much. A simple and elegant up-do would have sufficed. This dress cuts in all the wrong places and does not flatter her fit and tone body. This is definitely a fashion failure. Sorry Hayden.

If Tommy Bahama made couture gowns. I am pretty sure this is what it would look like. Interesting choice by Rashida Jones. Those embellished palm tree's and bow are really throwing me off. I am very confused by this dress.

Edie Falco looks like a Christmas Present. That giant bow is a no no. Stay away from overwhelming bows!

And there you have it dolls. This years 2014 Golden Globe Best and Worst Dressed Candidates.

How to Create Stylish Outfits From Your Existing Wardrobe.

Good Morning dolls! It's a bit chilly outside so be sure to grab your favorite overcoat before you begin your day. Yesterday was a busy day for FB. I spent the day in Asheville styling a photo-shoot for Paul Lane. Super cool guy and so creative! Better yet, the model who I styled was my best friend! Talk about a fun day of work! I can not wait to show you lovelies the pictures. Anyway, Enough about me, let's get back to business!

For today, I want to share how you can get inspired to create new outfits from your existing wardrobe. As women, we all have those moments where we are puzzled looking at the vast collection of clothes in our closet. What's the first thing that comes to mind? "I have nothing to wear!" You look at your watch and realize you have ten minutes to get to work. Frantically, you grab the first dress you can put your hands on along with your trusty pair of heels or flats and run out the door. Brushing the sweeps of hair out of your face you feel like something is missing...

Ladies, I know it can be a bit overwhelming when it comes to conquering the stresses of your closet. You have no idea how to create a stylish and trendy outfit. Some of you want to avoid outfit repeating.  Well, FB is to the rescue! To my overwhelmed ladies and anti-outfit repeaters, after these tips you are going to be ready to declare victory over  your closet.

Here are a few helpful tips to help you win this fashion battle:

1. Clean out your closet.

Yes, cleaning! I know, I know. Not the way you wanted to start. But, cleaning can be an easy way to clear up the frustration and clutter in your closet. You want an organized closet so you can easily create those stylish and trendy outfits. If you can work with an organized mess then by all means do you! To my type A ladies, you will definitely want to start with a good clean sweep of the oldies and make room for the newbies. Side note: Separating your clothes by season is a huge help!

2.  Let's do a little inventory.

While you are cleaning your closet, I suggest that you take note of what you already have. If you have five of the same sweaters in different colors narrow it down to a minimum of two sweaters. Give the rest to a store that will buy and sell your gently used clothes. If you are taking inventory of what you already own you are opening up so many door for creativity and inspiration!

3. Stay up to date on the latest fashion trends.

How do I stay in the know when it comes to fashion!? Let me tell you. Start reading the latest issues of  my favorite Fash magz. Some of my favorites are Teen Vogue/Vogue, Marie Claire, and Elle. You can also subscribe to your favorite store's emailing list. These fashion publications will light your fashion creativity on fire and you will be a modern fashionista!

4. Let's Get Creative!

For inspiration I have created a fashion board in my room. Whenever I'm obsessed with an outfit, I have created, I will take a picture of it and put it on my fashion board. I will also cut out magazine clippings and add them to my fashion board. And let's talk about my favorite site that has EVERYTHING!  Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest! Oh how I love Pinterest! Ladies, this is a great way to create your own fashion board to relate to your own individual style. Fashion is all about creativity and your own individuality! So, let the creativity begin!

5. Layering and Accessorizing. (Outfit repeating)

ATTENTION anti-outfit repeaters this little bit is for you.
A lot of us are concerned when it comes to fashioning a public uproar of outfit repeating! Here’s the thing, you have made an investment into purchasing your clothes so it is okay to wear the same thing again. You just need to be mindful of your spectators. Wear your “repeats” when you’ll be in a different environment. For example; work, family, or friends. These are all very different groups and you can feel comfortable repeating when you are in a different setting with different people. For example, transitioning from day to night. Wear your favorite blazer on Saturday for  GNO with your gal pals and for work on Wednesday. If you are feeling sassy, you can add a chunky necklace to spice it up. I would avoid repeating the same outfit once per week. That will get very old and people will start to notice. In order of tiring the same ole’ outfit. Get Creative! If you find yourself navigating towards your favorite dress, again, pair it with a blazer or leather jacket to add some edge. You can also wear the blazer for a day look and switch to a leather jacket for night. Instead of carrying the same messenger bag, change it out with a colorful clutch. It’s all about those accessories or layering pieces. They will save you from re-creating the same outfit and transform it into a new one!

6. New Wardrobe, New Attitude.

If you have followed all of the steps above, you are ready to take on the world with your new wardrobe along with a brand new attitude! Be fierce, confident, and own your style! Let this be your motivation, "People will stare, make it worth their while." -Harry Winston

Listen to Sir Harry my lovelies. I trust you will follow through with these tips. Stay fab dolls.
